The Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, or Shriners for short, was established as an appendant body of Freemasonry. Today Shriners International describes itself as a fraternity based on fun, fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth. There are approximately 350,000 members from 195 temples (chapters) in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, the Republic of Panama, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Australia. The organization is best known for the Shriners Hospitals for Children that it administers, and the red fezzes that members wear.
The Shriner scarf that we came up with was inspired by an old Zembo Shrine auto emblem I found online. It seems that when making pins or emblems this design was more structurally stable than the normal logo with the crescent and star hanging below the scimitar. But for our purposes, I think it fills the space better and is a bit more unique.
